How To Make A Webpage
In the past, designing a homepage was only a simple process if you knew the language of HTML (hyper text markup language). This was not too hard, but a little bit of study was necessary).
Today, there are many programs out there that act just like a word processing program. In other words, you tell the program how you want the page to look, for example: Bold, Italics, or Underlining. The program will then insert the underlying HTML code for you.
There are many programs that do this, some are freeware, some are shareware, and some are only available commercially.
Examples of Commercial programs include: Microsoft Front Page 98 and Aldus Pagemaker **Unless you will be developing web pages professionally, most of the other programs will do the same features, and most Internet Services Providers do not support some of the advanced features of these programs for the home user**
Examples of Shareware programs include: HotDog Pro and Coffe Cup Pro **There are many of these programs available, you can go to http://idirect.tucows.com to see a large listing of the programs available - Shareware indicates that these are usually time-limited or have certain features disabled until you pay a small registration fee. Free programs are now available from both Netscape and Microsoft **The current version of Netscape comes automatically with Netscape Composer and the current version of Internet Explorer (including Windows 98) comes automatically with Front Page Express and the Web Publishing Wizard**
- Netscape Composer comes with the ability to both create and publish your website. Although we are not able to show you how to create the pages (this is a personal preference, afterall it is YOUR homepage), click here to find out how to publish the page to Storm Internet's server
OR
- After you create your page with Front Page Express, click here to find out how to publish the page to Storm Internet's server using the Web Publishing Wizard
OR
- After you create your page with Adobe PageMill, click here to find out how to publish the page to Storm Internet's server
OR

The best resource you have is the net itself! This is where most people learn. The first thing to do is make sure you have at least Netscape or Internet Explorer version 4.0 or higher (you want to be able to view your web page and others as they should be). The reason you want the latest version is so you can view tables, frames, JAVA, etc.
Now what you want to do is surf the net using this browser. When you see something on someone's web page that you like, and want to learn- "how the heck did they do that?!" there is a simple way. Go to View/Document Source in your Netscape menu options. This will show you the HTML to do what they did.
