Understanding VoIP 911 Services
If you use Storm’s Digital Home Phone service, it’s important to understand how 911 calls work with VoIP.
Unlike traditional phone service, VoIP isn’t tied to a specific physical location. When you call 911, your call is first directed to Northern 911, where an emergency operator confirms your location and connects you with the appropriate local emergency services.
Keep Your Address Up to Date
Because your VoIP service can be used from different locations, it’s important to keep your physical address up to date in your Storm user portal.
If a 911 call is disconnected or you’re unable to provide your location, Northern 911 relies on the address registered to your account to help determine where emergency services should be sent.
Please take a moment to check that the address on your account is current and accurate.
You can check your address: https://vvs.directnet.ca/
Keeping your information up to date helps ensure emergency services can reach you when you need them most.
